Dashboard
After replacing the clock by a revs-counter,
I asked myself: Where should I place the clock?
At the same time I needed same place to put
the PDA in view...

THIS could do...

... during the job ...

DONE!!
A piece of metal, two or three hours of
work...

This is how it looked like in the very beginning.
Cut from ONE piece of metal, formed and finally covered with -
a piece of rubber, you normally have on your working desk , eg. below
your keyboards.
Cheap, durable - WASHABLE!
BTW: The wiring to the clock is enlarged. With additional pluges to
remove the new dashboard rather quick.
January 2006:
This dashboard was removed, I didn't like the look
- although the design itself was ok.
Now I went for COTS and bought
a housing for the additional instruments.
But how to fix it without risking to damage the dashboard?
I
took two profiles of alloy, removed the ashtray and placed one profile on top
of the dashboard, the other below.
Connected and fixed by three screws it
looks like this:
On
each side of the upper profile I made M5 screw threads to fix the housing ...
The
wires (as see on the picture) are for
- the clock
- charging the PDA
-
and for the line-out on the PDA - connected to the phone-in on the radio.
Job
finished:
June
2011:
The new iPod.:
The
wiring done internally now.
